Effective Communication’ Workshop conducted at Student Centre Building, PU
CHANDIGARH: February 08, 2012: The Career Guidance and Counselling cell, PU
established under the UGC Plan organised a one-day workshop on ‘Effective
Communication’ for the students of Library and Information Sciences at the Committee
Hall, Student Centre Building on the 8th Feb 2012. The theme of the
workshop ‘Effective Communication’ was an outcome of the representation of
departmental needs of newly formed Student Committee Volunteers of the Cell from
Library and Information Science. The sessions in the workshop encompassed Writing an
impressive CV that was focussed on presentation and crisp content of CV and linking
and cutomising one’s qualification and skills with the job applied for. Fairing a job
interview, another session stressed on practicing appropriate verbal and non-verbal
communication during the interview. The last session was psychometric assessment of
the verbal ability of the students which gave the students an awareness of their
standings on their written English Language communication abilities in the range of
low, average and high. Students were further brainstormed on ways to enhance this
ability. The sessions of the workshop were conducted under the expertise of Oinam
Anuradha, Career Counsellor, Panjab University.
