NO TABACCO DAY

 

CHANDIGARH- May 24, 2012: The department of Life Long Learning  & Extension
celebrated ‘NO TABACCO DAY’ by organizing two day (23-24.05.2012)  training programme
at Govt. Model High School, Sector-25, Chandigarh on the theme of Life Skill Education
for adolescents, which
would help them to lead a happy life. 100 students of class 9th & 10th of the school
attended the program. Mrs. Renu Gandhi, Programme Incharge and Assistant Professor
said that adolescents more prone to stress because of more competitions, exposure to
electronic media with less knowledge about their physical and mental growth. They have
more challenges and possibilities but at the same time they require psychological
skills to over come those challenges and remain fully functional. The basic balance
has to be achieved through life skill education namely: problems solving, decision
making, empathy, emotional stability, time & stress management and creativity, she
added. Mrs. Gandhi emphasized upon the skills and strategy need to enhance
selfefficacy, assertiveness (without aggressiveness) creativity and optimism. Mrs.
Sudesh Mittal, Principal of the school said that we need to educate the children about
life skills which in return develop positive attitude towards life and also learning
the life skills would help them good living and  healthy life style.
Mr. Nitish Kumar, interacted with the students on the theme of life skills education
and said that life skill education program raise the quality of lives of adolescents.
