Vice President, Shri M. Hamid Ansari to be the chief guest at CHEMCON 2014 on December 27

 

Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh would host 67th Annual Indian Chemical Engineering Congress (CHEMCON 2014) from December 27 to 30. Vice President of India and PU Chancellor, Shri M. Hamid Ansari would be the chief guest at the prestigious International Conference being organised by Chandigarh Regional Centre, Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers (IIChE) in collaboration with Dr SS Bhatnagar University Institute of Chemical Engineering & Technology (UICET), PU. The functions would be held at PU main auditorium, UICET auditorium and other lecture halls in the PU Campus.

PU Vice Chancellor Prof Arun Kumar Grover informed that CHEMCON-2014 would offer the most attractive platform for intensive interface to the best of national and international brains in Chemical Engineering and allied fields. It will feature a host of events, which will include memorial lectures, plenary lectures, seminars, symposia, panel discussions, exhibition etc, he added.

The conference is being organised on the theme, "Chemical Engineering-Emerging Dimensions and Challenges Ahead". The theme focuses on providing a forum for substantial discussion on the emerging technologies and methodologies being developed to overcome the challenges, informed Organizing Secretary, CHEMCON 2014, Prof. V. K. Rattan and Chair, Local Organizing Committee, Prof S.K. Sharma.

Foreign delegates from Japan, Canada, USA, Singapore, South Africa and Iran would also participate. They include noted scientists and chemical engineers like Mr. Tomoya Tsuji, Mr. Hiroshi Yagi,    Mr Izumi Hirasawa, Mr. Meguru Kazminoyama, Mr. Hiroyuki Matsuda, Mr. Katsumi Tochigi, Mr. Kunihiko Tochigi, Mr. Kazuho Nakamura and Mr. Hiroshi Yamamoto from    Japan; Mr. R. S. Sierra from    Canada;Mr. Shekar Viswanathan, Mr. Sarma Pisupati and Dr. Raj Sardesai from USA; Prof. Yen Wah Tong from Singapore; Prof. S.B. Jonnalgadda from    South Africa and Dr. Mahboobeh Manoochehri from Iran.

Punjab Governor, Shri Shivraj V. Patil, Haryana Governor, Prof Kaptan Singh Solanki and Punjab Minister of Industries and Commerce Shri Madan Mohan Mittal would be the Guests of Honour on the occasion. IIChE President Prof Ch. V.R. Murthy would deliver the presidential address on December 27. Padma Bhushan Dr J.B. Joshi would deliver 38th Dr. H.L. Roy Memorial Lecture on December 27. Shri Dhirubhai Ambani Commemoration Day will be celebrated on December 28, 2014 as a
tribute to the great visionary. Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai Vice Chancellor Prof G D Yadav would deliver the lecture on the topic of “Achieving Longevity, Prosperity and Peace: Role of Chemical and Allied Industries”. PU VC Prof Arun Kumar Grover would deliver Mrs. Ruzena Kamath Memorial Lecture on December 28.
