over Punjab and upto Delhi. Many participants come from the Jawaharlal Nehru
University, New Delhi too to make presentations.
The theme for this year’s conference is the interface between knowledge and
society. Participating departments include the University Business School, the
University Institute of Legal Studies, departments of fashion technology, Music, Mass
Communication, Police Administration, Hindi, Sanskrit and departments of social
sciences like History, Sociology, Political Science, Philosophy, Public Administration
and Economics.
Paper reading, poster presentations, panel discussions, lectures and quiz

papers would soon be published in a book to be brought out of international standards.
A total of 146 abstracts have been received besides 96 full length papers.
Over 31 departments will participate. Research papers will be presented in 22

Such increased participation means that people are doing much more research
and thinking today than they did earlier which is an indication of the change that has
happened in the atmosphere of the university in recent years, Prof M. Rajivlochan,
chairperson, department of history and coordinator of the third Chandigarh Social
Science Congress informed.
