PANJAB UNIVERSITY CONSTRUCTION OFFICE HORTICULTURE DIVISION
The 10th Chrysanthemum Exhibition will be organized by the Horticulture Division of Panjab University as a matter of tradition, to re-experience and to relive the heralding of the coming of the spring season, a season of hope, activity and a life full with the spirit of zeal. The 10th Chrysanthemum Exhibition will be organized in Prof. R.C. Paul Rose Garden, Panjab University, Chandigarh on 14th December, 2017. Prof. Arun Kumar Grover, Vice Chancellor, Panjab University will inaugurate the exhibition on 14.12.2017 at 3:00 p.m.. Prof. Meenakshi Malhotra, Dean of University Instruction will preside over the function and Col. G.S. Chadha (Retd.), Registrar will be the guest of Honour. Prof. R.C. Paul Rose Garden has been given new look this year for the Exhibition and made ‘handicapped friendly’ with easy accessibility to the garden. There will be about 15 new varieties of Chrysanthemum at display this year. About 4500 plants will enhance the beauty of the garden. Such exhibitions have been organized regularly by the Horticulture Division in the past and have been huge crowd puller. These exhibitions are an opportunity to display the best products of Horticulture Division and also give a message for clean & green environment, keeping up with the motto of ‘Swachh Bharat’ being promoted by the Panjab University, Chandigarh. Er. Anil Thakur, Divisional Engineer (Hort.) said that the Horticulture Division is trying its best to make the exhibition more attractive than the previous years and has been preparing for the same with his team for many months. The exhibition is organised in the Panjab University to educate the staff & students about the medicinal use of the plants particularly Chrysanthemum. Chrysanthemum extracts have been found to be useful in treatment of angina pain, headache, Type-2 Diabetes, fever, hypertension. The beverages made from Chrysanthemum are very popular in China.
