The 2nd Autumn School on the theme “Hands-on-Exposure
to Neuropharmacological & Molecular Biological Tools” is being organised from 19-24
September 2011 at UIPS, Panjab University for pharmacy teachers under UGC Networking
programme. The event will be inaugurated on Monday i.e. 19 Sept at 10.00 am in Golden
Jubilee Hall of Panjab University campus. University Institute of Pharmaceutical
Sciences is the first and only pharmacy institute in the country to be selected for
creating UGC Networking Resource Centre by MHRD to promote research in the field of
pharmaceutical sciences. Molecular biology and Neuropharmacological techniques are
considered to be powerful tools in making breakthrough in understanding the
Pathophysiology of a disease as well as to evaluate efficacy of newer therapeutic
interventions. This training course has been planned to provide insight and hands on a
set of standard and basic molecular biological research techniques such as DNA
extraction, RNA isolation, plasmid manipulation, gel electrophoresis and western blot.
Among Neuropharmacological techniques, the participants will be trained in evaluation
techniques for various neurological disorders as Alzhiemer’s disease, Depression,
Parkinsonism and Neuropathic pain.
Resource persons from various regions of the country with expertise in diverse
disciplines of pharmacy together with the faculty members of UIPS will train the
participants from all over India.
