CHANDIGARH: 31 October 2011: As a part of their annual tradition, the students of the
School of Communication Studies (SCS), Panjab University, announced the arrival of
their annual Media Festival - SOCH 2011, presented by 7 SEA (broadcast partners) and
DLF Premier Life Insurance, by carrying out a rally in the PU campus, on Monday. The
Media Fest is scheduled to be held on November 2, 3 and 4, at SCS.
The students of the department descended in large numbers donning blue T-shirts, and
shouting slogans like ‘aaya aaya mass comm aaya, laaya laaya SOCH laaya’ and took
rounds of the campus. Also, the students highlighted their theme of the fest – 3G
i.e., GET GUTS GOING by holding placards that carried catch-phrases and interesting
media trivia. The prime objective of the rally was to inform the campus students about
the upcoming event and invite participation.
SOCH is an annual fest, which comprises of events that revolve around various aspects
of Mass Communication and Journalism. The three-day event invites nation-wide
participation, and receives an overwhelming response from various students of diverse
academic backgrounds. In order to carry its legacy further, SOCH promises to be bigger
and better this year.
SOCH provides an array of exciting activities like Dancing Shoes and STAR Night, which
would give the students a chance to enjoy and let their hair down! Meanwhile, events
like creative writing, ad mad, graffiti, street play and documentary screening among
several others shall provide a platform to the students to showcase and unleash their
creativity. Also, a panel discussion on the third day of the fest will make the
participants ponder upon critical media and social issues. In a nutshell, SOCH aims to
be a complete package, which promises to inform, educate and entertain.
