The Punjab Governor and U.T. Administrator
Mr Shivraj V. Patil will inaugurate a seminar on “Rule of Law: Good Governance or
Activism” organised by Rajiv Gandhi Institute for Contemporary Studies in association
with the department of Laws, Panjab University on November 12 at 10 am in the Moot
Court Hall of the laws department on the University campus.
Mr G.K Chatrath, Dean, faculty of law, Panjab University will present welcome
address to the participants, who include Dr. Sigfreid Herzog, a top-notch legal expert
from Germany. The seminar will include discussion and deliberations on topics and
issues ranging from analysis and status of rule of law, equality before law, and
public accountability. There will also be a question-answer session in which
panelists will answer questions. Prominent among participants include Dr. P.D.
Kaushik, Director, Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Contemporary Studies; Professor Balram
Gupta, senior advocate, Punjab and Haryana High Court; Dr Stellina Jolly, Assistant
Professor University Institute of Legal Studies, PU; Dr P.K. Vasudeva, Senior
Professor; Prof. Nishtha Jaswal of the PU department of Laws. Professor P.S. Jaswal,
Chairman, Department of Laws will propose a vote of thanks in the first session while
Mr Subodh Kumar of FNSFDF, Germany will propose a vote of thanks in the technical
session.
