SOCH 2011 ENDS ON A CHEERFUL NOTE

 

CHANDIGARH: 04 November 2011: Day 3 of the SOCH media fest 2011 organized by School of
Communication Studies, Panjab University began on an intellectual note with a panel
discussion on the topic “One person’s truth is another person’s bias”. The Panellists,
experts from different fields of media included Mr. Naveen Garewal (Special
correspondent, The Tribune ), Mr Jyoti Kamal(Chief of bureau CNN- IBN), Mr. Charanjit
Singh(Managing Director Core, PR), Mr. Sarv Priya Nirmohi(Senior Broadcaster, AIR), Mr
Prasana Rao(Creative Director Different Stroke Design Pvt. Ltd.) and the moderator was
Prof .Sherry Sabbarrawal.
Mr. Jyoti Kamal said, “Bringing truth out on air requires interesting elements which
sometimes leads to addition and subtraction starts. As a journalist I stand by my
story”. Mr. Nirmohi expressed. “Truth should be brought forth and it is possible only
when complete investigation is done and both sides of the story are given due
importance”,
Special guest of honour, famous Punjabi singer, Jeet Jagjit launched the souvenir and
distributed prizes to the winners. Students of Punjabi University, Patiala, were
declared the overall winners for SOCH 2011.
Jeet Jagjit who was ecstatic to be back in the university  also gave interview on
Panjab University’s own radio station 91.2 Jyotirgamay. He said there are no
parameters for success and in this busy world music is the best stress buster. He also
talked about his new album “Ud de Panchi” which is scheduled for release in November
end.
School of Communication Studies, in collaboration of PGI, also organized an eye
donation bank wherein volunteers were made to fill an application form undertaking a
pledge to donate their eyes after death. This was an initiative by the students of the
department with a view to make a difference by thinking for a cause.
