UIET STUDENTS OPEN "ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT CELL

"
CHANDIGARH: 04 November 2011: "East India Company" came to India in search
of 'Market'. They established a mechanism by which for centuries they took out raw-
material from India and pushed back finished products in Indian market. To safeguard
this mechanism of exploitation they deployed troops over the Indian sub-continent.
Even today our major exports are 'raw-materials' and imports are 'finished-products'.
We have numerous foreign brands in Indian market but sadly have very few Indian
products which really sell in global market. So what is the difference between British-
India and Present-India? INDIA WAS A MARKET THEN AND A MARKET NOW. Motivated by the
desire to make a positive real-difference between British-India and Present-India,
students of UIET under the guidance of Professor S. K. Chadha of UBS, opened their
very own "Entrepreneurship Development Cell, (EDC)" on 2nd November 2011. Professor
S.K. Chadha(UBS), Director Central Placement Cell of Panjab University, inaugurated
EDC by formally cutting the ribbon. On this occasion an interactive seminar on
entrepreneurship was held in UIET. Professor S.K.Chadha motivated students to be
entrepreneurs and gave various examples of successful entrepreneur’s founders of EDC:
Prashant Aneja, Rahul Rawat and Aakash Kashyap, students of UIET explained in detail
about functioning of EDC. Objectives of EDC are: 1. To thoroughly study Indian as well
as world market and identify real-life problems 2. Conceive
technologies/products/ideas to solve these real-life problems 3.Thoroughly test these
technologies/products/ideas 4.Set-up new ventures by finding capitalists to fund these
products/technologies/ideas 5.Support these new ventures by giving technical
assistance as well as marketing assistance to these ventures. EDC will further promote
entrepreneurship skills among students by organising seminars and workshops by
entrepreneurs, organising business plan competitions and in-house flagship events.
