CHANDIGARH, November 12: With a view to bringing into focus basic issues of human dignity and future, an International Conference on Enhancing Human Potential Bio-Phychosocial Perspectivesâ€, is being organised on the Panjab University campus from November 15-17. Mr Shivraj V. Patil, Governor of Punjab and Chief Administrator of Chandigarh (UT) will inaugurate the Conference on November 15 at 9.30 am. Prof. R.C. Sobti, Vice-Chancellor of the Panjab University, the Patron of the Conference will preside over the inaugural function. The conference aims to understand and analyse the challenges and promises of human potential and developing practical programme for enhancing happiness, peace and prosperity. Sharing research strategies, models and practices in development and management of human factors besides providing a platform to experts and the enthusiasts in the field of psychology, economics, management, education, sports, administration, biologists, creative artists and social workers are the other objectives of the Conference. In a remarkable response, more than 600 teachers, researchers and students from universities and educational institutions from India and aborad have registered as delegates. The three-day conference will be preceded by Workshop on Mental Training by Professor Lars Eric Unestahal from Sweden and a Post Conference workshop will be conducted by Professor Alex P. Linley, U.K. The keynote speakers include Professor Alex P. Linley, Professor Lars Eric, Unestahl, Professor G. Marimuthu, Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai, Professor Alay Ahmed, Pakistan, Professor Uday Jain, Professor N.K. Chadha, Professor B.S. Brar, Professor Rajbir Singh, Professor Gopal Krishnan, Professor S.C. Vaidya, Professor Pam Rajput, Professor B.S. Ghuman, Professor M.R. Chilana, Professor Swaha Bhatacharya, Professor C.R. Daroliya, Professor Umed Singh, Dr. G.S. Soun, Professor M.L. Kamlesh, Mr. Diwan Manna, Professor V.V. Upmanyu, Professor N.S. Mann, Dr. Y.K. Anand and others. The conference will also focus on the issues related to other Management Excellence, Health Management, Sports Excellence, IT and Education and Creativity in different Symposia. There will be sessions on oral and poster presentations of more than 300 abstracts/papers submitted by the participants. The conference is the first conference of Asian Association of Applied Psychology. Professor Sukhadeo K. Thorat, Chairman, University Grants Commission has been requested to preside over the valedictory function. Prof. Alex P. Linley will be the Guest of Honour, Professor Jitendra Mohan, Director of the conference will introduce the theme of the conference while Professor Ajaib Singh, Chairperson will propose a vote of thanks.
