CHANDIGARH- April 11, 2012: Panjab University has been ranked second in the top thirty
institutions from India with 416 publications, missing the top position just by 0.5
percent, which was given to the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Mumbai
with its 447 publications.
The report, published in October 2011, is an analysis of India’s
Science & Technology Capabilities and International Collaborative Strength,
particularly in the context of Indo-German Collaboration 2004-2009. The analysis was
carried out by the National Institute of Science, Technology and Development Studies,
Government of India, under contract to the German Agency, Deutsche
Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG), which is the equivalent of the Indian Government’s
Department of Science & Technology (DST).
The figures not only show the strong quantitative and qualitative
output of Indo-German Collaboration in Science but also highlight the Indian and
German Institutes engaged in most of the bilateral collaboration.
