CHANDIGARH, Sept. 27, 2012: Three-week Refresher Course for College and University
teachers concluded at Guru Tegh Bahadur Bhawan, P.U. Campus here today. The Refresher
course was organized on the theme ‘Classic & Modern Indian Languages’. Twenty
participants from various States such as Punjab, Haryana, Himachal, Chandigarh, Delhi,
Rajasthan and Bihar attended the course. The Resource persons from all over India
delivered the lectures on the diverse fields of the theme.
The Co-ordinator of the course, Professor Jaspal Kaur Kaang, Chairperson, Deptt. of Guru
Nanak Sikh Studies, P.U. expressed how the course was unique in spirit because it was
focused on unity in diversity which is urgent need of Indian society.
Professor R.K. Kohli D.U.I. Panjab University was the Chief Guest on this occasion. Dr.
Kohli appreciated the achievements of the course which were earlier elaborated by the
participants. He also stressed the need for simplification of languages so that the
languages keep on facilitating the easy communication among various cultural groups.
Dr. Neelam Grover, Dean Alumni Relations was the Guest of Honour. She gave suggestions
that the Geographical features of languages interaction should also be explored. Dr.
Paramjit Singh, Honorary Director, Academic Staff College, Panjab University was also
present on the occasion. He congratulated all the participants and the organizers.
Dr. Paramjit Singh appreciated Dr Kaang for conducting the Refresher course so
successfully. Dr. Jaspal Kaur Kaang thanked all the guests, dignitaries and the
participants.
