IIT Kharagpur to do “Entrepreneurship Awareness Drive” in association with
UIET on Oct. 19
CHANDIGARH- October 08, 2012: Entrepreneurship Cell, IIT Kharagpur in association with
Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC), UIET, Panjab University is organizing
Entrepreneurship Awareness Drive (EAD) on October 19, 2012 at Law
Auditorium at P.U. Campus. Any college-going student of tricity who wants to start his
own venture can attend this event.
Entrepreneurship Cell of IIT Kharagpur is a non-profit student-professor
body dedicated to the promotion of student startups and entrepreneurship,
both inside IIT Kharagpur and outside. For this purpose E-cell of IIT
Kharagpur conducts Guest Lectures, Workshops, Business Plan Competitions,
provides mentorship and incubation support to aspiring student entrepreneurs.
The Entrepreneurship Awareness Drive (EAD) being done by IIT Kharagpur
nation-wide consists of a series of Guest Lectures and Workshops in 20
cities in 20 days in the month of October. Each city plays host to an
Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp (EAC), where eminent entrepreneurs and
industry leaders counsel students about the pros and cons of entrepreneurship as a
career and how it differs from the usual run-of-the-mill job culture that has existed
till now. Each EAC also features a Networking Session, where Startups, Students and the
Guests can freely interact and a Startup Pitching Session, where the startups attending
a session get a one-on-one interaction with the Guest Lecturers.
This year EAC, Chandigarh in association with UIET would take place at Law
Auditorium, Panjab University on October 19, 2012 from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 pm.
The event would be graced by the presence of seasoned entrepreneurs –
1) Ms. Sangeeta Devni-CEO and Founder, Startup Freak, who would enlighten the
attendees with insights into starting a successful enterprise (2) Mr. Sameer
Guglani- Co-Founder at The Morpheus (3) Mr. Puneet Vatsayan- Co-founder and Board
Member, The Hatch Incubators President, Tie Chandigarh and Punjab Board Member, Angel
Investors who would enlighten the attendees with insights into starting a successful
enterprise. EAD has come a long way since its inception 4 years ago and has seen the
number of cities grow from 10 to 20 with a footfall of 7550 in 2011.
The Entrepreneurship Awareness Drive also coincides with the launch of our
International Business Plan Competitions: Empresario and Envision, which
attracts enthusiastic participation from all over the nation and beyond.
Empresario 2011 generated a huge buzz across the country as we got a total
of 1450 entries in its very first edition. It is the biggest business plan
competition in the country with prize money of Rs. 6 lacks and a total
incubation support of Rs. 1.8 crores up for grabs.
Envision: The Product Design Competition of IIT Kharagpur attracted some
of the best engineering innovations from across the country and beyond.
The winners were Roof for two, a Team from the Massachusetts Institute of
Technology (MIT), who came down to Kharagpur for the Finals
