The department of life long learning and extension of Panjab
University celebrated ‘World Aids Day’ today by arranging a workshop on HIV and AIDS
at Government Senior Secondary School, Khuda Ali Sher. Students from class X, XI, and
XII participated in the workshop.
Mrs. Renu Gandhi, Assistant Professor of the university department informed the
students of the gravity and risk involved in the HIV/AIDS and the preventive measures
against the disease.
She talked about physical, emotional and sexual changes coming about in adolescents
and advised students to shun hesitation and discuss their problems with their parents
or elders and seek their guidance as there was nothing wrong in it. The girl students,
however, appeared more confident when it came to asking questions relating to sex and
AIDS.
    Questions regarding sexual harassment AIDS prevention, use of contraceptives
and whether kissing was safe or not from the AIDS point of view, were also asked ,
