School of Communication Studies, Panjab University, is
gearing up for the sixth edition of its annual media festival SOCH from Monday onwards.
The event will be inaugurated by the Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Arun Kumar Grover in the
esteemed presence of Dr. K.K Rattu, Station Director, Doordarshan Kendra, Chandigarh
along with Mrs. Poonam Amrit Singh, Station Director, AIR Chandigarh, as the special guest.
Every year, students hailing from different cultural backgrounds and representing
different colleges participate in the festival to showcase their talent and bring out
the best in them. SOCH is a platform for students of mass communication to propel their
nascent ideas to an all together different level, hence the theme of this year --
‘Parwaaz: Wings of Imagination.’
Based on the theme, the three-day festival is divided into various events like Break the
Silence (mute commentary), Think Ink (creative writing), Halla Bol (Street play), Beyond
the Frames (Photo feature), Haathon Ke Fasane Parwaaz ke Bahane(Graffiti), Glimpse of
Thought (Documentary), Doodle Do(Cartooning), and many more.
In the evening, a cultural night consisting of Dancing Shoes and Fashion Show is
scheduled. Previously, Punjabi Singers like Jasbir Jassi, Sartaj, Jagir Parwez and
alumnus of the school and now an actor, anchor Ayushmann Khurrana have felicitated the
festival.
The registrations are open for all the events.
