Chandigarh would host Chandigarh Science Congress (CHASCON) from February 26 to 28, 2014.
PU is organizing the prestigious three day meeting in collaboration with Institute of
Microbial Technology (IMTECH), Central Scientific Instruments Organization (CSIO), Post
Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Indian Institute of
Science Education & Research (IISER) Mohali, National Agri - Food Biotechnology
Institute (NABI), Terminal Ballistics Research Laboratory (TBRL), Chandigarh, Central
Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL), Snow & Avalanche Study Estt (SASE), Chandigarh,
National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTR), National
Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), Institute of Nano Science
and Technology (INST), Bioprocess Unit, PEC-University of Technology are organizing the
prestigious three day meeting. It would be 8th CHASCON meeting.
PU Vice-Chancellor Prof Arun Kumar Grover today presided over a meeting at PU Senate
Hall in this regard. The meeting was attended by Dean Research, Prof Lalit Bansal,
Chairperson/ Directors/ Coordinators of various science departments. The meeting
discussed about preparation for the 8th Chandigarh Science Congress (CHASCON-2014).
Since its inception in 2007, CHASCON is being organized regularly every year by PU in
collaboration with different academic institutes in the
Chandigarh region. This event has been providing a scientific platform for
capacity building especially to the researchers at PU and its affiliated
colleges. The main objective of this Science Congress is inclined towards
strategizing the sustainable development through amalgamation of different scientific
dimensions.
CHASCON Executive Committee and Organizing Committee has invited scientists,
researchers, administrators, technologists, planners, teachers & students to participate
in this Science Congress. The Registration Form can be downloaded from the website:
http://chascon-14.puchd.ac.in. The registration form together with the registration fee
in the form of cash or crossed Demand Draft drawn in favor of “CHASCON–2014” payable at
Chandigarh should be sent to the respective Sectional Presidents latest by February 7.
Abstracts in Digital Version only have been invited for oral presentations/posters for
the congress. The Sectional Reviewing Committee will make the final decision regarding
selection of Oral/Poster
presentations. Last date of Abstract Submission is February 7.
PU Spokesman said that CHASCON would provide the youngsters a platform to showcase
their research talent and also provide them an opportunity to enhance their research
acumen through interaction with eminent scientists in varied disciplines of science and
engineering. Such interactions besides providing novel strategies towards beneficial
product development would also beckon the young & innovative minds to pursue career in
Science and Technology & apply their experience and achievements for the welfare of the
society and overall development of the country, he added.
