Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh would host Entrepreneurship Summit, ‘UDYAMI 2015’ from February 6 till February 8. Giving this information, PU Vice Chancellor Prof Arun Kumar Grover launched the website available at http://uiet.puchd.ac.in/index.php/news-notices/students/355-3-day-national-e-summit-titled-udyami-from-6th-to-8th-february-2015.

The first ever Entrepreneurship Summit, UDYAMI is being organised by Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC), UIET, PU to encourage and promote entrepreneurship among young minds.

Any Indian citizen (student/professional) can register for this summit at http://uiet.puchd.ac.in/index.php/news-notices/students/355-3-day-national-e-summit-titled-udyami-from-6th-to-8th-february-2015. There is a link titled “Research for tomorrow” wherein Industry can share innovations that they wish to be done for quantum jump in their profits/product quality/diversification/ market share. Database so created would
be shared with domain-experts in PU.

Prof Grover appreciated the students’ initiative of organizing this unique event. Hesaid that skill development, entrepreneurship and research of higher education are the key buzzwords on January 14.

The three day event will witness high profile speakers, investors and entrepreneurs. Students too will have plenty in store with competitions like Problemania 2.0, Adocom, Wisemiser, Extemplan and many more.

The three day event will provide a platform for students, experienced investors and entrepreneurs to make the concept of an indigenous business and its associated pros and cons familiar to them in an interactive way. The main focus would be on areas like E-commerce, Investment, Job v/s Entrepreneurship, Start Now, Stock Exchange, Seed Funding and Angel Investors.

Depending upon merits of the Industrial problem, the problem will be taken up as B.Tech Project/ M.Tech Project/Ph.D work/student competition and outcome will be shared with the Industry. Some of the problems may be proposed as joint projects with Industry to agencies like DST/AICTE/UGC/MHRD etc for funding. Industry in and around Tricity (Chandigarh, Baddi, Parwanoo, Ropar, PGI, TBRL) is urged to come forward for such joint projects and register at the website to volunteer in the E-summit as speaker/mentor/resource-person etc. On the same lines, any citizen can share a Social problem at link titled “Share your social problem”.

There is a link in the web-site titled “Share your Innovation” wherein an innovator can share his/her innovation story and depending upon merits innovator may be called in the E-summit for experience-sharing. On link titled “Start-up story” one can share how his/her start-up was erected from scratch and after an expert review the entrepreneurer would be called for story-telling.  Arjuna Award winner and the Padma Shree Awardee Mr. C. P. Vohra, who is also called “The Tiger of Geology” and President’s Police Medal for Meritorious Service winner and Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Naunihal Singh will also address the event.
There is also a workshop arena event, which will provide the students with interesting mix of fun and growth. The very popular and ‘social’ community AIESEC will conduct a workshop for students which will not only fulfil their motto of "Empowering Young People for Peace and Fulfillment of Humankind's Potential", but also infuse entrepreneurship in a way that makes the students connect and participate in start-ups of the members of AIESEC worldwide.

An important feature of a start-up or any successful organization is finance and market. A workshop from well known experts will be held for the students to simplify the norms of the market that are not always comprehendible by a layman. There is a list of competitions which will be held in the summit which will help one to test his efficiency in different skills required by an entrepreneur. The participants can step in the shoes of an add maker for a company in ADOCOM, or get the live auction thrills as a CEO by bidding for your own company in BYOC(Bid Your Own Company). You can let your imagination break free and design your own theme park and run it in RAP(Run A Park), or test your own marketing skills for your product live in CROWDATHON. Participants can win a prize by formulating a simple executive plan in EXTEMPLAN, or use their addiction to hashtags and social media to win prizes in GETTHEMALL. PROBLEMANIA serves the dual purpose of not only solving deeply rooted problems, but also generating profits while doing so. The WISEMISER lets a participants live an investor’s day and take risk with numbers and money, while TOUR-GUIDE tests a team’s strategy under constraints of time and budget on a city tour.

There is another very interesting part to this e-summit that is CONNECTORS which would be a place where participants will get a chance to interact with investors from different fields and can get them to invest in their project. The support of the faculty is always instrumental in the successful implementation of initiatives such as these which serve as a unique platform for a student’s growth. The registrations for UDYAMI 2015 are open now as PU gears up for its first national E-Summit this year with both, the students as well as the faculty and authorities looking forward to it.
