Theatre Group Catharsis from Romania today staged ‘Triumph of Love – a beguiling romantic comedy’ at Department of Indian Theatre, Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh.

The Director of the Triumph of Love is Ms. Semida David and it was written by Pierre de Marivaux. There are total 13 artists from Romania, who are performing various roles. The Triumph of Love was first performed in Paris on 12 March 1732.

Tomorrow evening there will be a two hour combined theatre session of Romanian artists and the students of Indian Theatre, in which they will exchange theatre culture of both the countries. It will be a great exposure and learning experience for them.

The same performance would be presented in the studio theatre of the department at 11 AM on January 17.

        Earlier today, Dr. Navdeep Kaur alongwith the students of the department welcomed the Romanian Artists team in a traditional style. Dr. Navdeep Kaur from Department of Indian Theatre and Dr. Harish Kumar from Department of UIET, the members of Indo Romanian Cultural Exchange Programme informed that  this theatre show Triumph of Love was being organized by the initiative of Prof. V.K. Madan from India and Marius Cretu from Romania.
