Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh students shone at the 30th North Zonal Youth Festival as PU won five first positions, two second positions and four third positions along with overall trophies in literary items and Theatre. The Youth Festival was conducted by Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi at Jammu University, Jammu and 25 universities of the northern region had participated in various events. Director Youth Welfare, Dr Nirmal Jaura informed that as many as seven teams of PU would participate in the All India National Inter University Youth Festival, Indore, Madhya Pradesh from February 12 to 16, 2015. PU teams remained Runner up in overall Fine Arts items. PU Vice Chancellor, Prof Arun Kumar Grover has congratulated the Department of Youth Welfare, winners and the students of the University for the feat. As many as 37 participants from the University had participated in the championship. PU teams won the One Act Play, Group Mime, Spot Painting, Quiz and Elocution. The PU team of One Act Play consisted of Mr Abhishek Gautam, Ms Gurleen Kaur, Mr Rama Ahuja, Mr Sylvester Stephen, Mr Sukhpreet Singh, Mr Yogesh, Mr Vishal Verma, Mr Ishant Gandhi and Ms Divyangna Sharma from DAV College, Sector 10, Chandigarh. The Group Mime were represented by Ms Sunidhi, Ms Yogeshwari Priya, Ms Renuka, Ms Sushma, Ms Aarti Yadhav and Ms Gunisha Vishnani from Government College for Girls, Sector 11, Chandigarh. The Quiz team consisted of Mr Shantanu Sharma, Mr Ayush Awasthi and Mr Raghav Jain from PU Campus. The On the Spot Painting was represented by Mr Nakshdeep Singh from Govt College of Arts, Sector 10, Chandigarh. Ms Arshdeep Kaur from Khalsa College for Women, Ludhiana represented PU in the Elocution. It may be recalled that Arshdeep Kaur had won National Elocution the previous National Youth Festival. PU One Act Play team had also won the previous National Youth Festival.
