Radio Jyotirgamaya 91.2, in collaboration with Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh, is introducing a free-of-cost Certificate Course in Radio Production. The course will start under the National Urban Livelihood Scheme of the Government of India. The requisite educational eligibility for joining the course is 10+2. Any person between the age group of 18 to 35 years. The applicant should be a resident of Chandigarh for at least last three years. The family income should not be more than Rs 1,50,000 per annum. The last date for receiving the Applications is 30th January, 2015. “The selected applicants will receive a stipend and local travel allowance along a with study kit,” informed Jayanth Pethkar, Chairperson, School of Communication Studies, PU. He added, "It is a great opportunity for the young and budding community members from Chandigarh, who want to pursue their careers in Radio industry. I hope maximum number of students will avail the benefit from this opportunity." Briefing about the course, Sunil Sharma, Radio Production Head, Jyotirgamaya 91.2 MHZ, Community Radio Station, PU, mentioned, "It is a skills training program of 430 hours duration particularly made for the deprived children, who cannot afford such courses otherwise.” In view of the huge growth potential of community radios, the course is going to prepare the students for the growing radio industry of India, he added.
