Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh today started a unique outreach program for school students "PU OPEN Minds" (Panjab University Outreach Program for Enlightening and Nurturing Young Minds). PU Vice Chancellor (VC) Prof. Arun Kumar Grover launched the outreach program at the PU Physics auditorium. More than 300 students from different Government Schools of Chandigarh participated in the inaugural program. Large number of faculty and PU students also participated in the function. Two noted Scientists and Professors of University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (UIPS), PU and Indian Institute of Science Education & Research (IISER), Mohali namely Prof OP Katare and Prof Arvind delivered expository lectures. PU VC Prof Grover also honoured the two scientists for delivering the lecture. In his motivational lecture, Prof Katare delivered lecture on topic of “My Life, My Goals: Answers are Easy, Questions are Difficult”. He underlined the importance of asking questions. He said that time is the greatest resource and urged the students to give importance to time and time management. Prof. Arvind delivered the lecture on “A glimpse into the Quantum World”. In an interesting and involving lecture delivered in Punjabi language, Prof Arvind spoke on the science and explained the difference between classical and the quantum science. { Events, General} |
