14th UGC Training School for Pharmacy professionals commences...

 

The Training School on the theme “Attaining Excellence and Compliance through Drug Delivery and Pharmaceutical Technology” commenced today at UIPS, Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh under UGC Networking programme for pharmacy professionals.

As many as 15 teachers from various pharmacy Colleges/Universities, representing different states of India, holding teaching experience over 5 years, are participating in the Training School.  PU, Dean University Instructions, Prof A. K. Bhandari inaugurated the training school. Head, Department of Pharmacy, The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Gujarat, Prof M. R. Yadav was the Guest of Honor.

Professor Padma V. Devarajan, Head, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Technology, Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai delivered an explicit Keynote Address on “Advances in Drug Delivery – Strategies Addressing Convenience and Compliance”. She elaborated upon various contemporary and futuristic drug delivery technologies to facilitate the patient convenience and compliance.

In the beginning, Professor V. R. Sinha, Course Coordinator of this training school welcomed the audience and briefed them about the course content and familiarized the newer paradigms in the area of drug delivery and pharmaceutical technology.

Professor Bhupinder Singh Bhoop, Chairperson, UIPS & Programme Coordinator, UGC NRC, in his presidential remarks shared with the audience the UGC Networking Resource Centre Programme under different modules. Dr Amita Sarwal, Joint Course Coordinator presented the Vote of Thanks.

Subsequent to the inaugural session, Professor S. K. Mehta, Department of Chemistry, Panjab University, gave an enlightening talk on ‘Microemulsions as Drug Delivery Systems’. He elaborated upon the various techniques involved in preparing micro emulsion & their utilization in Drug Delivery. Professor V. R. Sinha thereafter shared his knowledge related to one of the most upcoming technique of Multiple Unit Particle System (MUPS). He discussed the various technical and commercial aspects related to the techniques. In the afternoon session, Professor Sinha held a workshop on MUPS.
