Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh is all set to host the 6th Panjab University Rose Festival from February 6. Studded with 275 rose beds and 3,490 rose plants, PU Rose Garden is ready to welcome the visitors and rose lovers. 24 new Rose varieties have been added this year. It is mention worthy that PU Rose Garden has been adjudged as the Best Garden of the Tri-City for the last five consecutively. PU Vice Chancellor Prof. Arun Kumar Grover would inaugurate the Rose Festival. PU Rose Festival will be three days event. ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ is the theme of the festival this year. The festival would have many competitions, which are open for the public and the students. On Friday, the students of University Institute of Fashion Technology (UIFT), PU would present Fashion Show at the Old Convocation Ground on the first day of the festival. Rock Band “Pratayaksh“ and the Department of Indian Theatre, PU would present their performance and play respectively in the friday evening. The students of Guru Teg Bahadur Public School, Sector-15, Chandigarh, Ankur School, Sector-14, PU Chandigarh, Sant Waryam Singh Public School, Ratwara Sahib and Guru Gobind Singh Vidya Mandir, Ratwara Sahib would perform cultural events on the inauguration function. Around 50 stalls for display of various items ranging from refreshments, automobiles, traditional Punjabi items etc. will be on display. Stalls of games will be set up for the children. Games like Ball Game, Ring stall, Bottle games, Balloon shooting, tombola etc. will also be there for visitors. Joy rides like Joint Wheel, Columbus Boat, Caterpillar, Mickey Mouse, Car, Jeep, Jumping etc. will be set up for children. Food Court will be selling various items like Chaat, Barf Gola, Fresh Juice, Ram Laddu, Pop Corns, Corns, Momos etc. Various companies from the region have also joined Panjab University in its endeavour to make 6th PU Rose Festival a great success. { Events, General} |
