To commemorate the achievements of the great visionary leader, academician and scientist, Dr S.S.B. University Institute of Chemical Engineering and Technology (UICET), Panjab University (PU) would celebrate the 121st Birth anniversary of Dr Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar (Founder of Dr S.S.B UICET) on February 21. Dr Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar was one of the leading builders of scientific and industrial foundation of modern India. He was the first Director of Board of Scientific and Industrial Research (now CSIR) and founder Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC). His contributions in magneto-chemistry and physical chemistry of emulsions are recognized throughout the world. To honour his name and achievements, CSIR instituted an award ‘Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for Science and Technology’, since 1958, for outstanding scientists who made significant contributions in various branches of science. Professor, TIFR Centre for Interdisciplinary Sciences, Hyderabad Prof. Rama Govindarajan (Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Awardee) would be the Chief Guest.
