After more than one year of concerted efforts of the UGC-Centre of Excellence (CoE) in NanoBioMedical Applications, a comprehensive and illustrated book on “Nanotechnology: Novel Perspectives and Prospects” published by M/s Tata-McGraw Hill, New Delhi, India, with International ISBN No. was released by Professor Arun K Grover, the Vice-Chancellor, Panjab University, and Professor A K Bhandari, Dean University Instructions (DUI), Panjab University, Chandigarh, at VCCR, Panjab University, today on 20^th May 2015.

The book has been edited by Professor Bhupinder Singh Bhoop (Chairman, UIPS), Professor Anupama Sharma (UICET), Professor S K Mehta (Chemistry), and Professor S K Tripathi (Physics) as its Editors, while Dr Sonia Kapoor (UICET) and Dr Satyam Agarwal (UGC-CoE), Chandigarh, are its Associate Editors.

Most chapters pertain to the chosen lectures and presentations made by the participants of International Conference on “Nanotechnology in Service of Health, Environment and Society (NanoSciTech 2014)” held during February 2014. Classified under seven categories, the chapters of the book emphasize the nanotechnology applications in diverse fields of Energy, Agriculture, Electronics, Food, Water, Medicine and Health Care.

Complimenting the Editors of the book on this occasion, Professor A K Grover stated that “Nanotechnology is today a buzz word across the globe embracing the study and application of nanomaterials. Such laudable endeavors by the university researchers to propagate science of Nanotechnology make our Panjab University stand apart, leading eventually to its continued exalted academic status in the country and across the globe.”

Besides, other university officials including Col G S Chadha (Registrar), Prof Pushpa Syal (Secretary to Vice Chancellor), Mr Vikram Nayyar (FDO), Dr Vineet Punia (Director, Public Relations), a score of faculty members, Post-Docs and research scholars were also present on this occasion.
