Under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Panjab University (PU) today installed one sanitary napkin Vending Machine and two La Fem Care Bins for collection and disposal of sanitary waste at the A.C. Joshi Library of PU. The machine has been installed on one month free trial basis with the cooperation of Librarian, Dr. Raj Kumar Gupta and, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Washroom Hygiene Concepts Pvt Ltd., Delhi Mrs. Sudha Chakrapani. A coin of Rs. 5/- is to be inserted in the vending machine for taking out 1 sanitary napkin. More such sanitary napkin vending machines and bins would be installed at girls hostels and various department/centres of PU after successful trial at main library, informed PU Coordinator, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Prof. Seema Kapoor. The unique Sanitary Waste Disposal Unit and Liner system incorporates innovative, EPA approved Silver Ion technology which significantly enhances the elimination of harmful bacteria and malodours from the washroom. The system provides collection, removal and responsible disposal of sanitary waste. It is the latest patented technology of Biomaster U.K., which provides round the clock protection against bacterial build up from harmful species like E. Coli etc. giving a safe, effective & permanent antimicrobial protection. This system aims at providing clean and hygienic “Away from Home” Washrooms.
