Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh Vice Chancellor Prof Arun Kumar Grover has congratulated Justice Tirath Singh Thakur on being sworn in as the 43rd Chief Justice of India. Justice Thakur was sworn in as the Chief Justice of India by President Pranab Mukherjee at an elegant function in Rashtrapati Bhavan at New Delhi today.

Recalling the association of Justice Thakur with the Panjab University, Prof Grover said that it was a matter of pride for the University that Justice Thakur has addressed the PU Law graduates at 2nd Law Convocation at PU on April 11, 2015. PU is indeed proud that three  Chief Justices of India studied at the PU Law Department, he added.

Hailing Justice Thakur as a distinguished jurist, Prof Grover described the appointment as the recognition of his dedication and ability to lead the judiciary in India. “Considering the importance of the position, I am sure that Justice Thakur's tenure and leadership would add to the exalted stature of the Chief Justice of India,” he added.
