CHANDIGARH – February 1: A national seminar on issues for social scientists in north-
western India will be organised by the department of Sociology of the Panjab
University on February 2 at the ICSSR Complex on the campus.
Eminent scholars from University of Delhi; Jamia Milia Islamia University;
I.I.T., New Delhi; Punjabi University, Patiala; Jammu University and Guru Nanak Dev
University, Amritsar will be participating in this seminar.
The Vice-Chancellor Professor R.C. Sobti will inaugurate the seminar while the
Dean University Instruction Professor Bhupinder Singh Brar will deliver the
Valedictory address.
Two panel discussions on the themes Culture, Development and Environment:
intersecting Social Science Boundaries and Social Scientists as Interventionists:
Options and Challenges will be organised during the seminar, informed Prof Rajesh
Gill, Chairperson, department of Sociology and Seminar Convener.
