Panjab University alumni meet on Feb 19

 


The Panjab University (PU) is organising its first ever
University level Alumni Meet on Saturday, February 19 at the University Auditorium.  

        Prof Bhupinder Singh Bhoop, Dean, Alumni Relations, PU informed that Mr N.N.
Vohra, Governor, Jammu and Kashmir will deliver the inaugural address at 10.35 am.  
Prof R.C. Sobti, Vice-Chancellor, PU will deliver the welcome address.  Prof B.S.
Bhoop will deliver the thematic address.  Awards and felicitations will be presented
at 10.50 am.

        Mr Pawan Kumar Bansal, Union Minister for parliamentary affairs; Mr Pradeep
Mehra, Adviser to Chandigarh Union Territory Administrator; former Vice-Chancellors of
Panjab University, Dr R.P. Bambah and Dr M.M. Puri; several Vice-Chancellor of
northern states of India, many among them the alumni of PU; Chief Secretaries of
several states; celebrated intellectuals of India and from overseas including those
from the United States of America, Canada and European countries, will be
participating.

         Professor Bhoop said around 225 alumni of 1970 batch or before will be
honoured on the occasion.

        The event will culminate with a colourful cultural performance by Dev Dildar,
a renowned artiste in the evening.

        Earlier in the morning, a panel discussion on “Made for Each other: Alumni and
Alma Mater” to be moderated by Prof Bhupinder Singh Brar, Dean University Instruction
will also be held.  The event will also have intra-departmental meets from 3.00 pm to
5.00 pm.

        Meanwhile, the departmental level alumni meeting of the University Institute
of Legal Studies (UILS) earlier to be held later in the evening of February 19 has
been preponed to 3.00 pm on the same day.  It is requested to check www.pu.ac.in for
details, Prof. Sangita Bhalla, UILS director informed.
